Free Firefish Festival transforms Lorain, Sept. 21 to 22, with exciting array of Music, Theater, Fire, and Art

LORAIN: Things are about to heat up again as Broadway Avenue and nearby alleyways, vacant lots, and storefronts serve as the stages and venues for blazing flashes of art, music, dance, and fire performances at the fourth annual FireFish Festival on Friday, September 21 and Saturday, September 22, 2018, from 4 to 11 pm.

The free FireFish Festival features a wide array of multicultural; inventive visual art installations; fire performers; and the musical procession of the Firefish, culminating in a pyrotechnic eruption on Black River Landing

FireFish Festival programming highlights include: Main stage performances by Sammy DeLeón y Su Orquesta; Lorain record company Global Execs’ emerging young artists: pop singer Ejavien, 13, nominated for a Grammy in 2017, R&B and pop singer Hanna Lurrywhose current release hit number 2 on the UK charts recently, and soul singer Casanova; renown percussion group Drumplay; and Indian music and dance by Sanjib Bhattacharya and Anga Kala Kathak Academy and Nandani

A broad variety of multicultural dance from the Trutek Dance Company, the Bareketh Dancers, Alysia Ramos, NEOS Dance Theatre, Royalty African Dance, and Alma De México; opera from the Cleveland Opera Theatre; theatre from LatinUs Theatre; acrobatics from Oberlin Circus; and music from pop rock band Master T.C. and the Visitors, and indie artist Anthony Jones.

This year, the parade and burning of the fish will interact with the community with a theme of release or letting go of the stresses, conflicts, negative relationships or old habits that hold us back with the public invited to bring paper items that will burn in the fiery finale.

¡Y mucho más! See flyer on page 11.
